TESTIMONIALS (LETTERS OF APPRECIATION FROM FORMER GUESTS):

Here are just a few of the many hundreds of letters that we have received from our guests.

More will be added as soon as we have the time to do so.

"Dear Skip, family, and staff,  This will be just a quick note to let you know how much my wife and I enjoyed the 30 days we spent with you and your family at your wonderful resort.  We have stayed at resort/hotels all over the world, but we have never experienced as much down-to-earth fun and hospitality anywhere as we had at your place.  As soon as we met you we were aware that you were a real friend and not just another business man that was in it for the money.  Your friendship, hospitality, and constant helpfulness was beyond compare, and far greater than anything we experienced anywhere at any price.  We are amazed that you can provide your guests with such wonderful accommodations, food, and "toys" to use, at such a low price.  We will definitely return to your place next year if not before.  Sincerely, Ron and Judy Robertson.

Dear Skip, Chip, Skip’s family and friends,

We’d again like to thank you for your hospitality and kindness.  We had an absolutely amazing time in the Philippines and a huge reason is because of you, your family, and your friends.  Specifically, thanks for letting us borrow your boat, driving us around, educating us, and sharing your memories with us.  We will never forget you all, and we hope to visit again!!

Again, we are so grateful, and you all will always be in our thoughts and prayers !!  PS. The food is amazing !!

Love always,

Biz – biz.bowen@richmond.edu

Your place is a Godsend to wandering tourists.  Without you and your oasis this trip would have been forgotten.  But, I know that I will come back to Cebu, and your home the next chance I get.

Thank you so much,

Ryan Chandler – chandle_ryan@bentley.edu

Your generosity has been overwhelming and we obviously can’t thank you enough for it.  We are all hoping to be able to come back and visit with you, your family, friends, neighbors. Thank you so much once again.

Sincerely,

Anne – anne.parke@richmond.edu

It’s the people you meet that make a trip more fun and worthwhile.  Thank you ALL so much for your kind hospitality and making us feel welcome.  We had an amazing time staying with you.  Best wishes and keep in touch.  When I come to the Philippines I will definitely come back to your place. Dione Harrison – dione1@interchange.ubc.ca

If I ever gain a place that I can share with others as you have, I will be sure to treat them equally as good.  I am glad to meet such a worldly family with so much knowledge, experience, and friendship.  I hope your days will be full of joy.  I will be sure to write.

Sincerely,

Nick – Mozwarren@gmail.com

Thanks for the amazing stay.  You home-resort is truly in paradise.  Our random trip to Daanbantayan could not have been better.

Dear Skip and Belle,

When my friends Rick and Linda told me about the free campground you built at your resort I could hardly believe anyone would do such a thing.  I thought maybe the campground was only another one of the scams the world is so full of. When I went to your free campground the first time, I was thinking there would be some hidden charges somewhere along the line.  However, I was surprised to find out that your campground is very nice, and it really is free.  You even let us use your bicycles for free, and your boat for free, and your lawn chairs for free.  Also, you invited us to the birthday party even though we were not paying guests at your resort.  At first I was confused about your motives for sharing your beautiful place with a bunch of strangers that are not even paying you anything.  Well, after staying at your campground for a long time I am writing to you now to let you know that I am no longer confused about your motives. It is now clear to me that you are willing to share what you have with other people because you have a lot of love in your heart for your fellow man.  You are truly one of the most generous men I have ever met.  I respect you and admire you, sir.

Sincerely,

Robert Ridley – rridley@yahoo.com

A big “HI” to Skip, Belle, Chip, and Flip,

Thank you and your staff for making it possible for me to have such a great time at your wonderful resort.  When I first arrived in Cebu City, I checked into a five-star hotel, and after being there for two days, I started to wonder why I came to the Philippines, because my environment in the hotel was just like my environment in America.  Very disappointing.  Then I “discovered” your resort via a website about the Philippines.  Once I got out of the five-star hotel, and got into the “real” Philippines at your resort in Daanbantayan, I had one of the best vacations I have ever had in my entire life.  Now that I am back in America, I realize that the most enjoyable and memorable times I had in the Philippines was at your resort, riding motorcycles with you and your son, sleeping on the floor of your friend’s nipa house with a pig making noise under the floor all night, riding a carabao that belonged to another of your friends, learning how to plow with the carabao, fishing with the native fishermen, learning how to sail your neighbor’s small boat, climbing a tree for coconuts, helping one of your neighbors put on a nipa roof, and just relaxing at your friendly resort.  Once I got out of the five star hotel, and started hanging out with you and your family there at your resort in Daanbantayan, my vacation in the Philippines became one of the most culturally enriching experiences of my entire life.   I will definitely return to Daanbantayan, and to your amazingly hospitable resort, sometime in January of 2007.  I will let you know the exact date as soon as my schedule has been determined.  I will never be able to thank you enough for rescuing me from the five star hotel, and for opening my eyes to the wonderful Filipino people, hospitality, and culture.  Sincerely Yours,  Richard Hawkins.

Dear Skip, Belle, Chip, and Flip,

After staying at your hotel for only one week I feel like I have a family in the Philippines.  Thank you for giving me an alternative to the hotel I was staying in at Mactan Island.  It was costing me a lot of money to stay at that big hotel, and it was just like the big hotels back in America.  That place only isolated me from the culture of the Philippines, which means I might as well have gone back to America where there are many hotels just like that one.  It was only after I started to stay at your place, for a fraction of the cost, that I experienced the real culture of the Philippines, and I am very grateful to you for that.   You made my vacation a success, and  I will definitely return next year if not before.  I love you all, and miss you terribly,  Rachel Jorgenson

Skip,

Thank you for your hospitality.  We enjoyed staying at your beautiful resort.  We will be back soon ! Attached you will find the calling cards for our store in Las Vegas Nevada, and also for the immigration law-office where we help Filipinos immigrate to America.  The Gorilla Glue I promised you was left behind in Cebu.  Gigi, our caretaker here, will go with us to Cebu, so I will give the glue to him to be delivered to you.  Again, thank you and your wife for a wonderful stay.  Till then... Take care -- Rene

Dear Skip,

I chose your resort because after I read your website I saw you offered me the most for my money.  To my surprise, I got even more than I expected because I also got your friendship along with everything else.  You and your family treated me like I was a friend of yours for years.  Looking back on it, I should apologize for taking up so much of your time socializing with you and your family, but it seemed so natural because of your friendliness, and also I thought you would probably let me know if you were too busy to put up with me.  Even though I never rode a motorcycle, you and your son did a good job of teaching me, and I would like to thank you again for doing that.  Also, thank you for taking me with you on your rides, and for going slow so I could keep up with you.  Also, I never thought I would learn how to sail a native-boat with outriggers, but it was very easy for me with your son and his friends teaching me how to do it.  I am back in Cebu City now, and I will fly to America tomorrow.  I am going to take another two week vacation again in six months, and I will make reservations with you as soon as I know the dates.  Please say hi to your family, and also to everyone on your staff.  I will be there again soon.  Sincerely, Rick Alan
